Rhayader town centre - where are they?

Day 4: Builth - Aberedw - Erwood

From Builth to Erwood that Monday was not such a big distance, but it is very difficult to follow the river Wye, as a lot of people living there try to discourage the walkers by putting up signs saying that it is forbidden to walk through their property. But they don't only put signs there, they put hedges, fences and other difficulties like trees to discourage trespassing as well.

We met a lady who was very impolite and unfriendly to us (we had to beg to be allowed to trespass) as well as a nice gentleman who invited us to picnic on his land near the river as well! Because of his appearances (after we left and find out we did not know his name) we called him Mr. Tommy Steele.

To find a campsite near Erwood we had to follow the river walking on the left bank and we passed Erwood that was on the other side of the river for a few miles. Then we crossed the river by a small bridge and found our camping place right there on the other bank across the road.

After all, it turned out to be the nicest camping place we would visit, because it was close to the river as well as to some waterfalls. There were toilets and a shower, as well as a well-equipped kitchen we could use. And , we were the only guests, as it was still too early in the season.

We had a dinner in Erwood, the biggest steak for the fairest price we would get on our journey, and in the morning, after a good night of restful sleep (because of the hypnotising sound of the falls), we had a full and very complete vegetarian breakfast prepared by our host, Alistair.
