Hereford City

Day 7: Staunton - Hereford

After another rural breakfast, fresh milk and freshly baked bread, at the post office-cum-shop-cum-bakery in Staunton, we started walking through miles of apple-tree-yards or cider fields going to Hereford.

After a few hours through fields and yards we had to follow the mainroad for hours and hours. This was a terrible thing to do, especially for the dogs. We tried to get on the old Roman road but missed it. Somewhere near some villages called upper or lower Breinton we very happily reached the bank of the river Wye again and very nicely walked in a few hours through a wonderfull landscape full of tranquility to Hereford.

Bredwardine bridge In Hereford we camped on the racecourse site, with a view on Hereford from our tents. In Hereford we met Rob Fellowes, a friend of Terence's, and he was our guide bringing us to places for drinks and dinner in his car. It was a very strange experience being transported sitting in a car again after seven days of walking!
