Maximum permitted image size 450x300 pixels.
Maximum permitted file size 80 k/bytes.

Images must be kept fairly small for web pages or they take too long to downlaod.
Before sending your snapshot, please use an appropriate graphics program to cut your raw scans down to size.
Do NOT send files straight from your camera.

The following adjustments should be made to images:

  • Resolution Computer screens can only display between 72 and 96 dots per inch so sending 400 dpi images makes no sense. Reduce the resolution of your scan accordingly.
  • Scale Resize/resample downwards to maximum dimensions of 450 x 300 pixels. That's about two thirds of your available screen at 800x600 or all of it at 640x480.
  • Compression You can choose how much compression to apply to JPEG files. Up to a factor of ten is about right. Reduce the colour content of PNGs to 256. Experiment with dithering schemes to find the most suitable.
