The Courtyard Arts Centre

The Courtyard - Hereford's new centre for the arts.

The new Courtyard building offers artists, performers and patrons, theatre facilities comparable to the finest in the country. The arts complex is the result of over two years collaboration between The National Lottery, The Arts Council of England, The Herefordshire Council, The Courtyard Trust, The Friends of The Courtyard and, last but not least, the staff of the centre.

The Courtyard contains The Main House, a 400-seat auditorium, constructed entirely of wood in the style of a Jacobean playhouse. Also within the steel and glass structure is a smaller, 140-seat Studio Theatre, as well as a dance studio, rehearsal rooms and exhibition areas. A ground floor cafe-bar serving drinks and snacks opens daily from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m., while on the first floor, the Mezzanine Restaurant provides full dining facilities. The centre's resources can be hired for functions such as meetings, conferences, trade shows and product launches.
